Skin Detox Week - Clinique 3-Step Skin Care

Hiya lovelies! How's you?

I have a much needed week off starting today, so I obviously had to write up a new post. The festive season is well and truly over, but I can still feel the aftermath of too much chocolate, too much wine and too little sleep, especially when it comes to my skin. So I thought why not start a little Detox Week series on my blog, where we can all share some advice and our favourite detox products. I'll start with a review of the infamous Clinique 3-step skin care, hope you enjoy this post lovelies!

I bought this handy little trial kit a while ago, ages ago actually. It comes with three travel sized products, the Liquid Facial Soap, Clarifying Lotion 2 and Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. In case you didn't know, the 3-step skin care routine caters for four skin types (very dry/dry, dry/combination, combination/oily, oily) so your skin gets exactly what it needs. I have to start off saying I HATE the scent of these so much. They're said to be fragrance free but to me they smell kind of medical, which makes sense given they're clinically formulated. Having said that, I do love these products, simply because they actually work.

The Liquid Facial Soap makes my skin feel clean without being drying. I'd recommend you use a makeup remover before using this though, as it's not the greatest at removing it. It lathers up quite well so you don't have to use a lot which is great considering the 200ml bottle sets you back £15.50.
You then continue with step 2 in your routine, the Clarifying Lotion, which has to be my favourite product from the range. It tingles on your skin and stings like hell when you get it in your eyes, but boy this toner is brilliant. My skin feels super soft and clean, almost exfoliated after using this. It can be a bit harsh but I guess the one for dry/sensitive skin isn't, in case you're worried.
When your skin is all clean and soft, it's time for step 3 in your routine, the Dramatically Different Moisture Lotion. When using this for the first time I thought this was rubbish, but back then I had no idea you are supposed to apply a moisturiser afterwards. I'm actually glad I have to apply a moisturiser on top, as the smell of this is so unpleasant. But again, it helps making your skin look amazing and everytime I get back into the routine I can see results after just a couple of days of use.

Overall I'd recommend this routine if you're after clear skin and don't mind the weird chemical smell. Plus they look super pretty on your dressing table! I hope you enjoyed the first part of the Skin Detox Week.

Have you tried the Clinique 3-step skin care routine? What are your thoughts on it?

  3. Great review. I use the toner and moisturising lotion from the range daily. The toner I've been using for the past couple of years and nothing else compares to it! Do you think you'll buy the full sized products when you're done?

  4. I like the 3 step system, although I don't have sensitive skin so it works for me. The cleanser was the first to run out. I have to admit, I usually skip toner :-P I seem to always go back to Neutrogena products though...
