I ♥ drugstore makeup tag

Hey lovelies! Hope you're all fine and dandy!

It's been a while since the lovely Nuala tagged me to do the I ♥ drugstore makeup tag and I'm only now getting around to it. She has put a spin on the tag and called it best/worst drugstore products of 2012 which however I am not going to do as I already posted my 2012 favourites [herehere and here] so I'm just going to use the original tag [found on Luchessa's blog].

As I already ranted on Twitter earlier, my boyfriends sister came over today and she stayed for a good six hours so I couldn't take any pictures before it got dark which really bothered me. I'm aware this sounds pathetic, but I like my pictures to be bright and sharp! I guess fairy lights will have to do today, apologies if you're looking for proper pictures, just couldn't wait to blog today so I had to lower my sights! If any of you have done this tag, feel free to put your links in the comment section :)

1. What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand? There are quite a few drugstore brands I really enjoy using, not only because they're cheap but of good quality as well such as MUA, Soap&Glory, Rimmel, Revlon and Catrice, a german drugstore brand. Sometimes I prefer to purchase a lot of cheap items instead of treating myself to one high end product!

2. What are your favourite face, cheek and lip products? My favourite face product has to be Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation cause it's the first high street foundation ever to match my skintone perfectly! I'm using the shade 200 soft beige which is quite yellowish, as is my skin. I've also been loving Soap&Glory's Kick Ass Concealer in light as it has two shades to chose from, one to cover dark undereye circles and the other one to conceal blemishes. My fave cheek product at the moment is Sleek's blusher in rose gold. I picked this up in Superdrug the other day and have been using it non-stop since, it's so pigmented and I love that it also has a mirror so I can touch up on the go, eventhough it's not necessary because it's really long-lasting!

I couldn't decide between Revlon's lip butter and MUAs lipsticks as a favourite lip product, both are amazing. The MUA ones are really pigmented and smell lovely plus they're only £1. The lip butters are quite sheer and you constantly have to reapply, but they give a lovely sheen and feel really moisturising. They're also not exactly cheap at £8 considering they contain a mere 2.55g of product while standard lipsticks contain approx. 4g.

3. Your least favourite product? As much as I love MUA, I've been a tad disappointed with their Out There plumping gloss, the smell is really off putting and it doesn't make my lips look fuller at all. Then again the colour [peach shimmer] is lovely and for £2 you can't complain, can you.

4. What is the best makeup bargain? This has to be my Get Big Lashes mascara by Essence, a german drugstore brand which is amazingly cheap and stocks some great products. It's my favourite mascara ever and I've tried loads of brands including Benefit, Chanel and Artdeco, none of them beats this £2 bargain. I'll apply in the morning and it will last until I take it off at night!

5. What is your favourite underdog product? [Something you love that often gets overlooked] The Re-touch Light Reflecting Concealer by Catrice [another german drugstore brand] is the perfect alternative to the YSL Touche Eclat, it covers dark undereye circles perfectly and is really brightening without being glittery. The only downside is that it contains 1.5ml of product, the same amount a sample sachet usually contains and 1ml less than the YSL version but as it's only about £3 it's not really a downside considering the product itself is great.

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced? Again, as much as I love Revlon and their lip products, the price of their lip butters is quite steep. I got it on 3 for 2 at Boots though which makes it reasonable, so keep your eyes peeled for offers in case you're not willing to pay the full price.

7. Your best drugstore makeup dupe? If you haven't been living under a rock in 2012, you know that MUA's Undressed palette is almost an exact dupe of Urban Decays Naked palette. I'm not going into detail about these anymore, you can check out my post about my MUA palettes here if you like :)

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype? To be honest, I can't think of one! I'm not one to run out and buy every hyped product out there as living on a student budget can be tricky, but when I did I've never been disappointed! I'm lucky I guess :)

Hope you enjoyed reading my answers, feel free to do this tag yourself if you haven't already! Let me know if you'd like me to review any of these products! :)
