My MAC experience

Hiya lovelies!

Ahh I'm so excited for todays post! As you might know if you're following me on Twitter [@ohsnap90] or read my previous blogpost, my mum booked me in for a MAC lesson for my birthday. I couldn't have been more excited to go since this was my first makeover with them! I was basically a MAC virgin which my bank account must have loved. However, gone are the days where I thought 'nah, I'd rather buy three highstreet lipsticks instead of one MAC lipstick', I'm complete and utterly in love with them. If you're not familiar with their lessons, you pay a certain amount of money [say £30/hour depends on which kind of lesson you're going for] which is then redeemable against products.

The girl who did my makeup was super lovely and asked me what felt like a hundred questions about what look I usually went for, which shades and textures I prefered etc. which I thought was great because I was kind of worried I'd end up looking like the last time I had a makeover [read about my horrible experience here]. She then whirled around the shop to pick a couple of items she thought I'd like and I honestly loved all the shades she picked! We agreed on a corally daytime look which turned out really pretty if I do say so myself.

She started by cleansing my skin with their wipes which were alright, nothing I'd get excited about though. She then applied a layer of their Prep+Prime skin base mixed with the Strobe Liquid which gave my skin a lovely glow. I used to think the Strobe Liquid would make me look glittery and overdone but it's really subtle and I loved it! Definitely something I'd purchase if I was rich girl hehe. She moved on to foundation and said that I didn't need much coverage, which had me a tad worried as I usually go for medium-high coverage foundation to make sure my skin looks flawless. Anyway, she applied their Face&Body foundation in N2, hid my dark circles with the Mineralize concealer in NW20 mixed with a non-shimmery highlighter and put MSF natural in medium on top which definitely added some more coverage. Then she contoured my face with a bronzer from the Temperature Rising collection followed by the Peachykeen blusher which is a pretty shade but nothing I'd spend £17.50 on as I already own a bunch of similar if not identical shades.

On me eyes she first used the Paint Pot in Ochre which is a matte yellowish nude shade. It could be used as a base as well as a cream eyeshadow and there are definitely some gorgeous shades in this range. She then applied Paradisco on my lid, Naked Lunch under the browbone and Espresso in the crease with a 217 brush which I now need in my life! Although I do love my Kiko brush Eyes200 this has made such a difference. I asked her to do a little cat flick as well so she used their gel liner in Blacktrack and applied two layers of their Haute&Naughty Too Black mascara which I didn't like tbh. My lashes are naturally quite long and thick and this mascara made them look thin and barely there if that makes any sense.
I did some research [aka googling swatches] before so when it came to choosing a lipstick I knew I wanted to try either Sunny Seoul or Coral Bliss. She applied Sunny Seoul first but it looked really pink on my lips, definitely an amazing shade it just didn't match the rest of my makeup. Coral Bliss however looked ah-mazing! Just the kind of shade I'm usually going for.

I really couldn't of been happier with my makeup that day, that lovely lady has done a brill job and I was happy to take the Paint Pot, Espresso eyeshadow and lipstick home with me. She even gave me a voucher for a 20 minute makeup lesson which I thought was really kind. I'll definitely be back for another lesson soon! I'm really sorry this post turned out so long, massive pat on the back if you actually read the whole thing :)

Have you had a MAC lesson before? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
