Three Cardio Exercises to Keep Your Routine Fresh

via weheartit

When you embarked on your New Year fitness adventure, you may well have gone for running as your cardiovascular workout of choice. It’s an easy sport to get into as all you need are a pair of trainers and some exercise-friendly clothing. You can, of course, spend a lot of money on acquiring great run kit, but if you feel like you’re starting to tire of the monotonous nature of running perhaps this isn’t the best idea. Instead, mixing up your activity schedule can help you stay focused and, more importantly, allow you to enjoy your fitness routine. There are several great cardio workouts which you can perform with minimum fuss and without drastically altering your workout pattern.

Swimming
You won’t have to splash out a fortune to become a member of your local leisure centre and gain access to unlimited swims. Once you’ve done this the only thing you’ll need to get going on your alternative cardio is a good swimsuit. Swimming costumes at George have got just what you need at great value. There’s plenty to do in the water to keep fit and if you don’t find yourself hooked on shaving seconds off your length speeds you can try your hand at water aerobics classes. This is a better option if you like to be part of a group when you work out and is a great chance to meet new people.

Zumba
Another great social workout, Zumba has exploded in popularity in recent years, with thousands of people signing up to try out the high-intensity dance style workouts. With so many people wanting to try Zumba, the amount of instructors available has sky rocketed, leading to a lot of competition. This popularity is great for those trying to get fit on a budget as it means you can get involved in classes at great low prices. This cardio option is a lot of fun but might not be your thing if you like to put your head down and work out in solitude.

Cycling
If you can fit cycling into your commute you’ve found a sure fire way to increase your fitness every day while doing something practical. There are a multitude of benefits to cycling to work aside from the primary health benefits, including a huge decrease in your fuel consumption and wear and tear on your car. Saying this, the money you save on decreased vehicle usage could be more than cancelled out by buying a bike and commuter kit. You’ll want high-vis clothing for darker rides and a good helmet for starters. If you can’t bring yourself to invest, or a cycling commute is impractical for you, instead consider spin class. The next best thing to getting out there on the bike, a spin class means you can enjoy the cardio aspect of cycling in a controlled environment with like-minded people who are also trying to get fit.

Don’t let boredom corrode your will to get fit, switch up your cardio and stay on track to the healthy lifestyle you envisioned when you began your fitness journey!
