Christmas 2013

I look like a right weirdo but this picture of my nephew was too gorgeous not to share.

Hiya my lovelies!

First of all, it feels so good to be blogging again. You have to excuse the quality of my pictures though, the lighting wasn't the best, and I'm glad I managed to take some pictures at all. I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas! As always I feel like it's gone by too quickly, we spend weeks, sometimes even months, preparing for it and then it's over in the blink of an eye.

Anyway, everyone's christmassy posts made me want to share how I spent Christmas this year. To me, it's all about being with your loved ones, and being grateful for everything we're blessed with. Living in the 21st century, I certainly appreciate any gifts I receive, but at the same time it makes me feel incredibly humble. It hurts me so much to think there are people starving, living on the streets without a single penny to their name, who can't enjoy a lovely meal with their families. These kind of thoughts literally break my heart every single day, which might explain why I'm a social worker.

Hence I felt so blessed to be able to spend time with my parents, grandparents, siblings, my nephew and boyfriend and his family, who we went to see later on Christmas Day. The boyfriend and I spent Christmas Eve with my family and my mum made the most amazing dinner. We snuggled up on the sofa, had a cheeky glass of wine or five and just had a right laugh. Seeing my little nephews face light up on Christmas Day was the most adorable thing. He's eight months old now, so doesn't understand the concept of Christmas, but you could tell he was excited. Later that day we went to see my boyfriend's family, where we had another lovely meal (and maybe some more bottles of wine). Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

I've decided not to do a 'what I got for Christmas' post this year, although I do enjoy reading them! I've got a haul post planned for next week, so keep your eyes peeled for that :)

Hope you enjoyed reading and don't forget to leave links to your Christmas posts.
