Garnier Moisture Match Wake Me Up - an Origins GinZing dupe?

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you may have noticed that I've grown really fond of skin care over the past couple of months. I've tried quite a few Clarins and Origins products, all of which were lovely. But from time to time, a high street product comes up trumps and brings us high end results at reasonable prices. Cue Garnier. I've been using their products for absolutelly ages, their Pure Active range helped clear up my skin when I was younger, and I still use it every now and again to get rid of the odd spot or three. They also do a micellar water which has proved to be really popular with most bloggers. The range I want to talk about today however, seemed to have gone a bit unnoticed.

Last year Garnier has launched a range of moisturisers tailored to different skin types, namely the Moisture Match range. I think the concept of this is brilliant, there are five different ones which cater for normal, normal/dry, dry/very dry, dull, and combination/oily skin. Each tube has a different colour which makes them even more attractive to me. I love me a nice packaging! Another thing I love about this is that it comes in a tube rather than a glass or plastic jar, mainly because it's more hygenic, but also because it's perfect for carrying in your makeup bag. I have dry combination skin so should of probably gone for the blue or green option, but the orange one for dull skin sounded so much more appealing. I bought mine from Superdrug for around £3 when it was on offer, which is a steal. It usually retails for £5.99, but is on offer in Boots and Superdrug at the minute. This particular moisturiser claims to boost radiance and leaves your skin feeling hydrated for up to 24hrs. It's a water-based gel formula, so it feels really light and you only need to use the tiniest amount. The fruity scent can be a bit overpowering at first however, it fades after a couple of seconds. I have to agree with the claim, it does leave my skin feeling hydrated all day and I love that it's so lightweight. It also sinks in in a matter of seconds, which makes it great to wear under your foundation. With that being said, I don't think it does boost radiance or makes your skin look all dewy and glowy, but it's a lovely basic moisturiser suitable for most skin types, although if you have very dry skin I'd recommend trying the pink one.

As for the post title - there are some similarities between this one and the Origins GinZing moisturiser. They both have a lovely citrus scent and are really lightweight and fast absorbing thanks to the gel formula. Both claim to be refreshing and although I'm not saying they're exactly the same, the Garnier offering is the perfect alternative if you're not willing or able to spend £23 on the Origins version. Personally I think GinZing is a bit more nourishing, it's hard to explain but I love them both and will forever repurchase them.

Have you tried the Moisture Match range?

  1. I tried the dry skin version of this, the pink one, and was so surprised how good it was. It is very nourishing so that one may be worth a try!
